The Proto theme comes with several colour options to give you almost an unlimited array of colour combinations. You can change things like the backgrounds, titles, links, menus, and much more. There is a section within the Theme Options panel that is dedicated to colour modifications using a built-in "colour selector" like the one below:

The theme is coded to accept the values (HEX Colour) that you get when you move the O cursor around the colour box area and once you decide on your colour of choice, click "Save Options" in the Theme Options, this value will automatically replace the default colour. You will also notice that within each colour selection option for the Proto theme, the details will show the "Default" colour. For example, if you look at the screenshot above, you can see the first one says:
"This is the colour for your website title if no logo is used. Default is #ffffff."
So if you ever decide you want to revert back to the original colour setting for a particular element, this information is made available to you with each option.
Changing Your Colours
- Navigate to Dashboard >> Appearance >> Theme Options >> Colour Settings
- Go down the page and make changes to any page element listed
- Click "Save Options"
IMPORTANT NOTE: When deciding on colours, you will want to make sure whatever combinations you use, that they work together. For example, don't make the background of something and make the text black, or dark in colour because it won't show up very well.
If there are elements within your website pages that these settings do not have included, you can still modify them by opening up the theme's style.css file and making your changes there.
MAKE SURE YOU KEEP A BACKUP OF ANY FILE YOU PLAN TO MODIFY
